The Gemini Up is the latest version of the Gemini robotic milker, which was launched in 2023. Its rear leg milking and modular approach makes it unique in the market and it's available as a single or double box.
Routing
Boumatic offer both free access and routed systems with the option of grazing.
Entry and exit
With the single box version, cows can enter and exit from either side, allowing cows to approach from the left or the right to be milked. This feature means it can also accommodate two separate milking groups through the one machine, which can be useful if you have a small hospital group that you want to keep separate.
The double box milks two cows side by side with one arm and so entrance and exit is on the same side of the machine. The main benefit of this model is cost as one arm milks both sides.
Arm technology
Boumatic's arm operates with hydraulics and compressed air, while the teat attachment uses camera technology.
Identification
Identification is via an ear tag or collar, with the latter adding heat and health monitoring.
Teat preparation and attachment
Teat preparation is carried out with the use of a separate prep cup before the milking cups are attached and teat disinfection post milking is completed by the arm, which sprays each teat individually.
Backflush
A cold water backflush of the milking cups is performed between each milking with the option of including peracetic acid.
Milk quality monitoring
The Gemini Up comes with quarter conductivity that links in to the OneView software programme and app.
Manual attachment
This is possible on the Gemini Up, with or without an operator's pit.
Batch milking
Boumatic offers this concept and it is branded Gemini Max, which the double box lends itself to very nicely.
